Teaching Healing Beyond Borders

To qualify as a Certified Healing Touch Instructor (CHTI), candidates must first complete all five courses in the Healing Touch Certificate Program and hold active status as a Certified Healing Touch Practitioner (CHTP). Beyond this foundational training, additional instructional requirements apply. Prospective instructors are expected to assist in multiple Healing Touch classes before progressing to supervised teaching under the guidance of a seasoned Certified Healing Touch Instructor. Once these steps are completed, applicants submit a comprehensive application packet as a Certified HBB Instructor to the Healing Beyond Borders Certification Board, which conducts the final review and determines eligibility for the Certified Healing Touch Instructor (CHTP/I) designation.

Barbara J. McConnell, LPN, CHTP/I

LPN, CHTP/I Barb is a Certified Healing Touch Practitioner/Instructor with Healing Touch International and has been a Licensed Practical Nurse for over 30 years, working in hospitals, clinic health care, industrial nursing and human resources. She was exposed to her first Alternative Healing Modality in 1996, while visiting her daughter in Hawaii. This experience changed her life. Barb has volunteered at the Healing Touch Center in Farmington Hills, Gilda’s Club in Royal Oak and Passages (retreat for women surviving cancer)in Jackson. She is a member of Healing Touch International, Lakewood, CO and teaches Courses 1-5. Barb is dedicated to sharing the information she has learned with family, friends, and the community at large.

Diane Rothman CHTP/I, HSC

Diane is a certified Healing Touch practitioner and certified Course 1, 2 and 3 instructor. She is a former director on the Board of Directors, a member of and a volunteer practitioner for the Healing Touch Center. Diane is a member of Healing Beyond Borders, the educating and certifying entity for Healing Touch students. She maintains a private practice, Hand to Heart Healing Touch, and hosts regular practice groups, Course 4 study groups and mentors aspiring students to certification. She is the founder and senior clergy of The Church of the Human Spirit, a non denominational spiritual church where she serves as Senior Clergy, Holistic Spiritual Coach and mentors aspiring students interested in the church’s ordainment program. She is also a Rahanni Celestial Healing practitioner/Instructor and a Stargate meditation facilitator. She is the author of two books: The 12 principals of the Church of the Human Spirit and Love Notes from Pinky, a Guide to Spiritual Development and Healing.

Cathy Gurnee, CHTP/I

Cathy retired from a 35 year career in Accounting in 2018 to open her private practice, Peace Within Healing Touch, L3C, in Farmington Hills, MI. In addition to being a Healing Touch Practitioner and Instructor, Cathy is a Reiki Master and Instructor. She loves working with Healing Touch students, both mentoring Certification students and offering practice sessions for new students. Cathy is a member of Healing Beyond Borders, (serving on the Marketing/Membership Committee and as a member of the Biofield Research Interest Group), the Healing Touch Center in Farmington Hills, MI (serving as a volunteer practitioner and the Board Treasurer), and the American Holistic Nurses Association. Cathy is passionate about practicing Healing Touch and is truly honored to be teaching Healing Touch. It is her hope to empower her clients and students to bring Peace Within their lives and the lives of those whom they encounter.
